Raising Awareness for Myositis
Cycling 4,200 miles Across America June 2021
I’m training to do the Trans American Bike Race (TABR). Not only to do it, but to beat the current women’s fastest time, which is 18 days and 10 min. That’s over 4,200 miles and reaching 150,000 ft in elevation total and starts on June 6th.
Due to the current COVID conditions and with all of the uncertainties from State to State, with not being able to get a bike or even bike parts/components in a timely fashion. I’m not going to be able to do the TABR in real life in 2021.
HOWEVER, ((Drumroll)) I will be doing it on a virtual platform called RGT!! RGT allows cyclist's to upload actual roads in GPX format so you can ride the actual road (length and slope/grade).
I’m looking to keep to the rules and have it self supported once the ride starts. My bike breaks, I fix it. Taking care of my food, my laundry etc...
I’m grateful to have a great team of friends to help me get the whole route uploaded and ready to ride. I am grateful for their time and effort in making this happen.
I’m also grateful for RGT for having a platform available for me to do this on and for the community it has put me in contact with and for the support to do this ride. I have never met a more supportive community where people lift you up like I have here.
My team is in the process of working out the logistics of length and time of roads. But roughly we are looking at 15 hours on the bike and an average of 280 miles a day.
I know that I can’t compare it to real life, even though I will be riding the actual roads minus the elements. However, I look at it as a great learning opportunity for me to figure out fuel and figure out my mental and physical capabilities so that I can totally crush it in 2022!!
